part 1- Professional communication technologies

In this section I have read the course reader on professional communication technologies, and from this i understood the intention of it being an explanationatory form of  a creator/producer of the work to the reader (1-1) in other words its a simple form to direct information from one person to another. On the other hand, web 2.0 is a extensive form of explanation with different platforms and implements, which allows the sharing of various users, expanding the form of communication.

Here is a printscreen which i obtained from a website ( http://learningfutures.wordpress.com/what-is-web-2/ ) which gives me a bigger understanding of the differences between both web 1.0 and 2.0
I have also collected a map by Markus Angermeier which interested me and brought a wider understanding into my thoughts on this task.

overall through my research the discoveries i have come across between both webs are their differences and the impact it has towards us who seek a profession which involves communicating, participating and collaborating with other people through techonology. (architecture of participation)

there are 3 descriptive parts of Web 2.0

  • (RIA) Rich Internet Application-  this source defines the engaging experience which improves the productivity of a web making the reader's interaction more captivating and engaging.

  • (WOA) Web- oriented architecture- this source plays the biggest part in Web 2.0, it basically defines the extending service of SOA to web-based applications.(Examples are: Feeds, RSS, Web Services, Mash-ups)

  • Social Web-  this set of social relations defines how Web 2.0 links everyone together through the world wide web.

    • social networking sites, blogs, wikis, and video sharing sites - These social sites involve numerous ways of communication, enabling people to discuss their thoughts, give opinions, share and relate their experiences. (facilitating the sharing of information)
I personally use facebook, blogger and later will be exploring other sources of social networking as my progression develops in order to convey my work and ideas.

After the feedback i have received from Paula below, i have thought about ways in which i could relate what i have learnt in this section to myself and my personal aims and experiences. I think that this interesting point of social networking will be very benefitial to me, as i'am planning to pursue my dream of moving to africa and opening my very own theatre company, this whole idea of using social networking sites will help me explore and balance my ideas, i could develop my work with strategies which could involve questionnaires and websites that people can participate and commune by sharing their votes and opinions , that will be a great way to develop my progression.  In addition , learning about web 1.0 and 2.0 has helped me a lot because it allowed me to gain a better knowledge on  the set of social relations and how important and reliable it is for our modern communication technologies.

    task 1c: Audio-Visual

i have created a clip located in youtube ( http://youtu.be/9gSKzHBqfEw ) which explores my initial thoughts on the BAPP programme, the clip is based on my initial plans on being a teacher/teaching assistant, and working with children.
I feel that proceeding with this profession would be rewarding and beneficial in many ways, developing opportunities for myself. As a performing artist the function of acting as an Arbitrator will allow me to grow inside a classroom whilst assisting students in their learning.

this exercise has enabled me to rebuild my skills & knowledge on the production of videos and technology. it has broaden my understanding about ways of publicating things.

The youtube clip i have produced is made up of stages which show the progress of childhood to adulthood, i collected the short clips from users on youtube and assembled them as one, in order to portray the idea of development. the aim of doing this was to reveal my passion  and the intentions of elaborating with children and education.

I find it a challenge to blog everything i feel or know, being a kinetic learner i find it very difficult to post on the internet. Having moved in to a new house i dont always get the opportunity to discuss my thoughts and ideas, so i tend to write them on paper. i must say when i am confused i tend to write things down or even use images/diagrams to explain myself and its so much easier doing this on paper. what do i DO???? in order to improve my stratedgy!

    Thoughts...

    Justice without power is empty
    Power without justice is violence.
A warrior always has his blade sharpened, but never uses it without a cause.

    Introduction..personal statement

I completed my FdA Drama & Theatre Production Degree in the summer of 2011 gaining a 2:1 overall.  Drama has been a passion all my life and is something that I have always been interested in, hence the reason why I pursued this pathway into higher education.  It was during my time at Middlesex University that I realised how transferable the skills in Drama & Theatre are in relation to teaching and learning.  It was this realisation that persuaded me to engage in teaching as part of my industrial placement for my degree, completing 20 days work at Willowfield Humanities College in 2011 as a teaching assistant.
During my work at Willowfield School I was asked to work with many different students from many diverse backgrounds, some with (SEN/ SLD) one if which had severe communication difficulties with both staff and other students.  I was asked to spend several lessons with him and at first he did not respond.  Eventually I was able to engage with him by drawing, and performing the work with him, which promoted him to verbally respond to what I was doing, something that his teachers and fellow students had found difficulty in doing.

It was after my experiences at Willowfield that I realised there are many ways in which to communicate information, especially using the visual, which was something I could draw on because of my degree programme.  By making drama/theatre visual it gives access to the audience to engage and learn something, which goes hand in hand with learning in the classroom, as demonstrated with my work at Willowfield.  Creating and making theatre also requires you to be very supportive of the people you work with, again something that relates heavily to teaching, to create the right environment for individuals to express themselves.

As part of my programme of study I worked with a community group called ‘Community Focus’ in which we were required to create a piece of theatre to promote inclusion.  The Community Focus clients had a range of disabilities, some with mental health issues, some with behavioural issues and some with physical disabilities,  but the mantra of the work was to make it inclusive in order to gain confidence and to challenge barriers through integration.  This community work gave me experiences and skill in creating constructive and supportive relationship with people and to interact with them according to individual needs.
Having had a baby in the Autumn of 2011 I am very keen now to become involved in Education and with more time and experience would very much like to do a PGCE.  Firstly however I am very keen to gain more experience in the classroom and to support and learn from more established and qualified teachers.
I am a quick learner and adapt well to new surroundings realising that teamwork and a good understanding of the environment are paramount to the role.  I am very keen to forge myself a career in teaching

I have participated in a variety of performances, having performed in Poland and visited berlin to see jerzy grotowski’s theatre , throughout my performances I have received an immense sensation of wanting to always make improvements and pushing myself to the limit
